It is often helpful to distinguish between special love and general love, just as it can also be helpful to distinguish between special respect and general respect.
Personally, I prefer the general over the special, for both love and respect.
To be more specific, I think that special love and respect is good for my ego, while general love and respect is good for my true self.
The more I identify with my ego, the more I desire special love and respect. The more I identify with my true self, the more I would rather have general love and respect.

Our emotions do not lie, and they are never wrong. They always tell us the truth about the situation *as we see it*. What is wrong is the way we see the situation. Our emotions tell us about both ourselves and the situation simultaneously – they tell us about how we are *interacting* with the situation.

People say the emotions can be wrong. I say that emotions are never wrong, but the way we see the situation is generally always wrong. Our emotions accurately tell us about the way we are perceiving a situation. They tell us our subjective truth. But our subjective truth is different from the objective truth.

Thus our emotions are said to be wrong, but it is actually our subjective view of the situation, which causes our emotions, that is wrong. This is what causes us to behave in a way that may be deemed inappropriate to the situation.

There is nothing we can do to make ourselves be worth more or worth less. Our worth has already been established by God, and nothing we can do can change that. Where then is our motivation to succeed in life? For many of us, our driving force has been to justify our existence, and to prove our worth to ourselves.

Freedom comes from respect. And should we give people any less freedom than God gives us? Remember how most of us have bravely battled thru times so difficult we didn’t think we could bear it, or go any further. In this way, each of us is a brave warrior, tho we may not look like one. So we can afford to bow to each other in mutual respect. And let us remember that we are, all of us, greater than we think.
